When comparing fats for cooking and consumption, remember; all fats are not created equal. Conjugated Linoleic Acid or (CLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid (naturally occurring trans fat) found primarily in Beef and Dairy. Studies have shown these fats may provide a whole host of health benefits. These are very different from the trans fats found in manufactured hydrogenated vegetable oils which have been linked to inflammation and obesity.

The reason why grass-fed is important in this regard is because the amounts of CLA present depends significantly on what the animals eat. By most estimates, grass-fed and grass-finished beef and dairy can be 300-500% richer in CLA than grain-fed animals.

Beef Tallow will keep for years in a freezer and months in a refrigerator.

The USDA requires a frozen sticker because US Wellness Meats does not use preservatives or additives.

Beef Tallow can be unrefrigerated for a month without any issues. However, at some point, the surface will begin to oxidize.

For long term storage, US Wellness Meats recommends freezing.

US Wellness Meats ships on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday every week.

Deliveries are expected to arrive within 24-48 hours from the shipping date.

Orders shipped via FedEx ground or express service will receive a FedEx tracking number after the order ships.

Great tallow!
Perfect, as expected.  Packed well, great flavor without taking on the taste of the plastic container like some other brands.  Will be my go-to tallow.

Lots of ways to use
I like the tallow so well I put it on crackers instead of butter and add a some salt.  Very tasty.  Even though glass jars would be a heavier weight for shipping, I wish the tallow was in glass instead of plastic, that's my only draw back but will continue buying. - Peach

Loving this stuff
Love this stuff.  I am a full fat person so I repackaged into small single use cubes and had plenty to share with my neighbors who also are loving it.  Usually I use leaf lard but I tried this hoping for more flavor and I got it! - Kathleen K.

Great for frying - refrigerate yours
I didn’t read that you needed to refrigerate it and it had some mold in the lid after a few weeks. It had slightly changed color, but I still used it to make home fries and they were good. -   T MONTGOMERY

Toxic
I bought 4 of these 1.7 pound beef tallow containers. The tallow is nauseating. It tastes like plastic or wax or something toxic. It is mostly neutral, but has a bad off taste that is hard to describe. I make tallow at home and do not have this problem.

I think maybe they removed all the flavor and then poured it into sealed plastic containers while hot and it took on the plastic taste slightly. I'm also not sure why the tallow would also be shipped cold. Perhaps the tallow should be poured into glass and then the blocks should be put between wax paper and shipped.

I've heard tallow can start to melt between 95 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit, so during the summer some extra precaution might be needed. But, in most cases it should not. If really necessary, use glass jars.

Best Fat on the Planet
This tallow has converted me to using it as my #1 fat for cooking. It has surpassed even my beloved butter. I may never even buy lard again, this stuff is THAT good!

Not good
I really want to start by saying everything else in my order was amazing! I was especially excited about the tallow because I need to up the fat in my diet and what better way to do that than grassfed fat? From all my research tallow should be soft and scoopable at room temp. This is very hard. Like more so than ghee. I managed to scrape enough off like shavings to fry up some hamburgers. I took one bite and spit it right back out. I don’t know if I got a bad batch but this was not a great first experience with tallow. The flavor was very bitter. Keep in mind I eat a 100% meat diet. 90% of that is grassfed beef. So I was really looking forward to adding some beefier flavor to my burger meat. But I ended up wasting an entire pound. Definitely disappointing. I do want to reiterate that the rest of my experience has been great! Shipping, delivery, and the meats I ordered have all been great and I absolutely plan to continue ordering from USWM.

*USWM -- We're very sorry the tallow fell short of your expectations and we thank you for your honest feedback.   A credit has been returned to you.

Good Size, Mild Taste, Great Nutrition
Size is a good value, I hear tallow is shelf stable too. Flavor is mild and not over powering. Easy way to add good fat to the diet. Great on skin too.

Disappointed
I ordered this just to try it since I also ordered the pork lard which I really like. This is so crumbly even at room temperature. I really have no desire to use this small tub since it's so unpleasant to try to use. Just beware it's not at all moist as you would think fat to be. It's very dry. Maybe I received a bad batch but having never tried it, I have nothing to compare it to.

*From USW Meats- We are sorry for your disappointment with the the small beef tallow pail! We have issued a refund to your card and welcome your honest feedback at any time. With sincere gratitude, The US Wellness Meats Team

Love it! And a little goes a long way!
I love this product, have gotten rid of suspect olive oils for making my omelets, and replaced with this! Very little is needed, high smoke point, healthy fat, yay! It has a light "burger" smell that I was not used to, but don't worry, cooks clean and even, imparts great flavor.  I also heat some to pour over my very fussy chihuahua's (expensive haha) dry food, and then she loves it! Easy way to give your dog good fats and flavor too!

The small tub is actually quite large
I was happy to see that this tub contained more than I anticipated. I wanted to keep it at room temp, but knew I wouldn't use it all within a month. I got a cheap silicone soap bar mold with 4 oz rectangular cavities, melted all the tallow and let it set up in the molds in the freezer. I then wrapped them with a layer of freezer paper followed by a bit of foil to help keep it closed. Each bar is the equivalent of a stick of butter so it's super easy to eyeball tablespoons for recipes. I love the flavor and the health benefits. The price is a great value for the amount you get.

Great Product
This product is just amazing.  I cannot have any type of oils etc. that people normally use for frying due to stomach issues.  Even bacon grease causes me some issues.  This beef fat is perfect for frying meat such as chicken.  It is just beef fat (no additives etc) so it doesn't bother my stomach.  I've been using it for years and it has helped me keep a variety of meats in my diet.

My family's #1 fat
My family uses this in most of our frying and cooking. I'm dairy intolerant so I'll even use this to replace butter on things like veggies and rice. Has a great "beef stew" smell when heated and because of the high smoke point, you don't need a ton to fry or cook with because it doesn't burn off. Plus, it's fat from grass fed cows - can't get much better than that!
