Good in tacos, spaghetti, chili
I am very happy to have found grassfed and grass-finished beef that can be delivered to my door. It always comes perfectly frozen in a cooler. I use it to cook various meals for my husband but I eat it with only sea salt. At times, I taste some grizzle or bone, not sure what it is, but it's not enough to make me stop buying it. I think I may switch to the 85% lean and see if that helps. It comes in 1 pound packages which is perfect my two people. Thank you for this product!

I am a canadian and have been wintering in Arizona for 10 years. I have been a customer of Grassland for years but to be honest we haven’t been that happy with their ground beef, it has contained muscle, bones etc. making it very unpleasant. I have complained and was always compensated but I did stop purchasing it. I just ordered this ground beef to see if anything had changed and was pleasantly surprised it had. The ground beef was wonderful, tasteful lots of flavour and free from extra stuff. I am not sure if their supplier change but it has, please stay with them. I will be ordering this again.

I love this ground beef! I use it to make excellent meat loaf, and wonderful tiny Italian meatballs for my organic, homemade spaghetti sauce. I will continue to order this ground beef, as well as the 85% lean beef. I love both of them in the 1 lb. package as well as the patties.

This is delicious ground beef. I'm on a limited diet, and also struggle with hypoglycemia, so finding healthy sources of protein is important for me. I cook this with some salt, pepper, and garlic power, and it's absolutely delicious to eat plain that way or use in tacos. I love the way it fries in its own healthy fat making it incredibly indulgent. It's a totally different experience from grocery store beef I was used to. My only complaint is there can be small pieces of gristle at times, but not bad enough to prevent me from buying again.

We can confidently report the packaging is damaged due to a rough transit line resulting in transit damage. We validate consumer concerns and confirm the items in your order were inspected by hand for anomalies, rips or tears prior to shipment. Our pick-and-pack team sorts off any damaged product for incentivized employee use. We do add dunnage paper to the package in the hopes to retain each item in place during transit. We also add ice packs or dry-ice to each shipment in order to maintain freezer-like conditions through transit. Occasionally, frozen plastic becomes brittle with sharp knife-like corners in these conditions as outlined in our “Thank You sheet sent with each order. A rough transit line can allow for the packages to toss about and slice into each other causing rips and package anomalies. Not sure why but we didn't feel good after eating this, it happened a third time, that's how we connected the dots back to the ground beef. We are very careful with raw meat, only defrost in the fridge and use within a day or two, so not sure what happened. We have not had any problem in the past with the 75% patties, are these sourced differently? USW did credit back our acct.

I ordered the 85% and 75% beef, the meat looked bleached, more white instead of red. It ate a patty made with the ground meat, it was really bland. So it was either frozen for a while, or might be old. Because this kind of mean is usually tastier and more red than what I received. Might be good for Chilli, but for patties, not so much, at least with the versions I received.

Every order I place has USWM ground beef. We recently ran out (didn't order early enough to get shipped before the holidays) and had to buy store bought "grass fed" beef. I could hardly eat it, it was such an awful taste compared to USWM.

This last order was pretty bad. Not the same ground beef I'm used to ordering. Everyone of the 15 lbs packets of beef that I ordered was full of gristle. I don't remember my last couple orders ever being like this, and to make matters worse, there were a couple packages with holes in them upon delivery. The holes were easy to spot since the beef in that area was discolored, and I didn't want to chance eating them, so ended up tossing a couple right off the bat.

Not really happy with quality
I've ordered this ground beef several times now, and at first i didn't notice anything wrong with it, but my most recent order was different. I've been finding myself going out and buying more expensive grass fed ground beef from the grocery, in spite of the fact that I have more of this beef in the freezer, because almost every package i take out, as other reviewers said, contains little pieces of gristle or bone or something that is really unpleasant to eat. We really enjoy buying bones for making broth from US Wellness, and even roasts and bacon.... but I'm feeling hesitant to purchase this ground beef again. I order it in bulk to save money, but I don't want to spend almost $200 on a bunch of ground beef and then feel like I can't finish it because of the bad texture.

We've been buying the 75% ground beef for years. Always good quality until the last year or so.
The last two orders were so gristly, our kids wouldn't eat it anymore. Frankly, my wife and I were having a hard time with all the "chewies" as well--even in tacos.
We've had to source beef elsewhere now, but I will say that US Wellness customer service is absolutely wonderful. They handled out dissatisfaction well. Even though we're no longer satisfied with their 75% ground beef, we're leaving US Wellness satisfied with the overall experience.
I write this because if you're questioning whether or not to buy this beef based on my review, I'd say go for it, because they will make it right if you're not happy with it.
I wish it was still an option for our family!

I have been purchasing this ground beef for a couple of years and although I've received the occasional hard and chewy batch, I let it go. Lately it seems every package has been almost inedible due to bone, gristle, and an overall unpleasant texture. I'm afraid I'll break a tooth. This is unfortunate as I want to continue to support this company but I am afraid to purchase this again. My husband refuses to eat it and I can't blame him.

Not as good as it used to be.
We have been buying this 25/75 ground beef for several years. It had always been so good, tender and tasty. Last year we ordered some that had a lot of gristle in it. I read the reviews and found it was processed at a different facility. It sounded like the company was aware and was taking care of the problem. We ordered more a couple months ago and just started using it. My husband and I noticed several small pieces of bone that we bit down on. Taste is good, but biting into bone and gristle is not pleasant. Not sure if I'll continue buying this or not. I wish the ground beef was as good as it used to be.

I'm glad I found USWM. Their meat is comparable to family farm meat we had through young adulthood. The flavor was great, Texture was excellent and the grease was clean (a 1st in many years!) I ordered 1 package to fry fofr burgers in a skillet and on the George Foreman...so this time ordered 5 packages! IT was impressive and will be using in recipes. My staples are the ground beef, liver (excellent) and a precooked roast with gravy (also just perfectly excellent!)for days I want fresh cooked but not the work load. First try on the beef bacon, hot dogs and bologna which I will be reviewing next month as I try them. Thank you so much for the great food and excellent customer service! Just received my 2nd order of 75% ground beef...
Truthfully when I first ordered it, I half expected it to be greasy, due in part to previous experience with grocery store meat. I decided to trust my gut and order it, if nothing else I would use it for pet burger for my service dog. Boy, am I happy I followed my gut! I love it! Great taste, and texture! Thank you!

This is ground beef. First time purchase totally satisfied, have to make it the go to in meat purchase. The quality ,flavor, texture met or exceeded my expectations. As a first timer was leery of online meat purchase but after talking to customer service decided to try it., glad I did don't know about the issues others have had texture grissle etc but not for me definitely surpasses box store meat!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Don't Know How This is Possible...
...but this beef exceeded my expectations! Very moist, very tender, great beef flavor and consistency. I have been buying locally harvested grass fed and grass finished beef that costs more, and the flavor is just not comparable. This beef beats it hands down.

Great news - USWM now processing our own beef!
We just wanted to share a quick update with everyone regarding our ground beef. As of December 2015, we have moved to our new facility and now process our own ground beef, beef patties, and other raw beef items (bones, steaks, roasts, kabobs, etc.). We have been ordering from US Wellness for many, many years. We did experience the rough and gristled texture mentioned above on our last 25# order which we've just finished. Thanks to a friend "lending" space in her basement freezer, we just took advantage of the savings on a 50# order. We've had meatloaf, sloppy joes, and chili out of the order without a hint of the texture problem. Over the years we have shifted as much of our grass-fed meat and poultry to local producers (downstate Illinois); however, we continue to trust the ground beef from US Wellness on health and safety concerns as we are rare beef lovers. This is a good time to say "thanks" for getting us started on this journey!

I have not responded earlier about the 75% ground beef we purchased (7/19/15 #338977) because I never looked at the reviews to see others had a problem also. I have been buying local grass fed meat since then. We also found bone pieces, gristle and some vain it was also very fatty more than the 25% stated. I have always been pleased with the products before except for the occasional crack in the vacuum packaging. I see now that you are processing the ground meat yourselves so I am going to try it again. I hope for better results.

I bought this ground beef a few times and have decided to stop. I really (really) dislike not knowing if I'm going to bite down on a bone or piece of gristle. The chances of doing so just became too great.
USWM- We are truly sorry for your bad experience with our 75% ground beef. That was know issue with our people that ground it for us. As promised we have our own facility now we have been operating for about a week and we are grinding our own Ground Beef now and have a handle on it. My husband and I have been eating local grassfed meat for years. Never had this rubbery texture before. We couldn't even break it up in a pan with metal spatula when trying to saute a bit up for pizza topping. Burgers were not good either. Wondering if we just got a bad batch? will not be ordering again.
We are terribly sorry to hear about your experience with our ground beef. We have recently relocated and we will be in charge of processing our own meet instead of an outside facility doing it for us. We should have total control of this prior to the first of the year. This should resolve all issues with the quality of the hamburger. Ordered in October. The flavor was good, but hard chunks of gristle throughout. Please let us know when this problem is truly fixed. I cannot eat it as is. The other products I ordered were delicious.

We are happy to issues refunds for the ground beef, for any reason.
We use the ground beef ourselves and agree there have been quality issues intermittently since July. In July, we had a batch of rectangle packages with excessive gristle. August batches were fine without any issues. Within the last two weeks, we have received reports regarding the rectangle packages that the grind is coarser than usual. Not as bad as July, but still coarser and with more gristle than usual. This ongoing issue with quality consistency has been disheartening to say the least.
This is actually the first report of problems with the square packaging being overly fatty we have received (besides the occasional transit damage).
On a good note, within the next six months, we should be processing and shipping from our own facility. We look forward to future batches being back to the usual quality we’ve come to expect. To avoid more disappointment with the ground beef in the near future, we advise waiting until we are in control of our own processing. You are welcome to contact us at any time for an update. We expect this to be by early spring and will announce the project completion in our weekly newsletter and on our social media pages.

A little confused as to why the taste and texture of this is so different from the beef patties. The burgers made with the patties were wonderful and flavorful, but the burgers made with this weren't so great at all. Chili was mentioned in a previous review, and I think that's the kind of dish this item is best suited for.

The 30lbs of 75% ground beef that I just purchased is a very coarse grind. I think it will be ok in chili, but it is too chunky to work well for making hamburger patties for my family. Disappointing!

I am so glad I found you guys, I heard about y'all through Paleo Parents and thought I'd give it try, as I've never purchased meat through an online retailer. I've been buying organic grass-fed ground beef from Trader Joe's, but NOT anymore!! This grass-fed ground beef is so much tastier...I love it!! And the shipping was so fast, I received it the very next day and everything was still frozen. I love that I can get such high quality meat at this price. I laugh at store prices of non-organic meat. Granted, this is ground, but if you eat for health reasons like I do you're paying for the beef itself, not the cut. That said, the flavor + texture is delicious, everything my wife and I cook with this comes out awesome, we don't even have to try anymore. The 25% fat makes it very fatty, great for stews. I recommend it.

Not at all like the hamburg called grassfed you find in grocery stores
Although this hamburg arrives frozen it tastes 100% fresher than the packages of grassfed hamburg you find in the local grocery store. There is minimal shrinkage. We use it for burgers, meatballs, meat sauce and we buy it in large quantities. Never been disappointed.

US Wellness Meats' 75% ground beef is what turned me into a beef lover. I'd pretty much decided that I just didn't love the taste of beef and it was the condiments or sauces that made it tolerable. Then, about 2 1/2 years ago, the whole30 people recommended US Wellness Meats as a great source from whom to buy. I fell in love! Now I don't even want condiments on my beef much of the time. I just want that taste. I love being able to buy from someone who cares so much about their animals that I can feel safe eating them, and not have to worry about if they're mistreated.

My husband and I also had the same experience with the 75% ground beef purchased in April 2015. We bought 50 lbs and there was a lot of gristle. Knowing that USWM acknowledged that it was an off batch makes me feel confident in trying it again. I have bought the 85% and the 75% in the past and is was excellent. Overall, the beef has tasted great and has been of great quality with the exception of that one batch.

The taste is fine (I have made 2 pounds so far). However, there was a lot of gristle. I'm very picky about meat, my husband is not and he even commented on the amount of gristle in both packages. I read the other reviews and I was really excited and felt very confident when ordering the item, but I am less than impressed after trying it.
