We thaw this in the fridge, slice off 2-3 large pieces and eat for breakfast with a little Redmond Salt!! I made the mistake of cooking it once.
This morning ate it with 2 soft boiled eggs.
Also, good as a quick snack, fast food ready when I am!!!

My review of Beef Braunschweiger is this: I haven't had for over 30 years. From what I remember, the flavor is very good! The texture IS different than I remember. But, that being said, what I used to eat was obviously heavily processed liverwurst/braunschweiger as it was just grocery store lunchmeat. This Beef Braunschweiger IS not cured, grassfed, and contains 60/40 beef/liver ratio. I can live with the "different" texture than I remember as a kid!!

Very tasty and convenient fully cooked braunschweiger
This braunschweiger is so much better than the stuff I get at my grocery store that uses conventional pork liver, bacon, and sodium nitrite. This is a grass finished beef braunschweiger and it has a much more mellow and delicious, almost sweet taste, and the seasonings used in this blend are very good, not to mention that it's free from any nasty ingredients like preservatives. First thing from my order that I ate and so far this is a favorite from USWM.

I admit I was nervous when putting that first bite in my mouth. But yum! It tasted almost like pastrami. I have tried multiple times to eat beef liver, but just couldn't. This makes eating liver so easy! Must try the liverwurst next. I love that there is no flour or starch (sometimes found in other brands.) The only downside is that their meats are delivered in a big, styrofoam cooler that I can't recycle. I cringed when I got my order. Wish they would find another method as other meat companies do.

I'll admit I'm newer to organ meats. I've been incorporating the ground beef/organ blends into tacos, lasagna, etc, and figured I was good to go.
I thawed this in the fridge overnight and sliced off a chunk. It started bleeding on the counter, which was my first offputting moment.
Next, I smelled it, which immediately made me gag. It's got a strong liver/bile odor and I just couldn't deal. I put it back in the fridge.
I'm trying to figure out if there will be a way I can use this. I'm not particularly picky, but between the grainy texture, bloody oozing, and pungent smell, I'm kind of at a loss.

Excellent quality and way to get liver in your diet
I was looking for a way to get more organ meats in my diet and just working with raw liver is so awful for me and I have done it, and didn't mind it (although hated it as a kid where we had it regularly). The look and texture of it raw is such a difficult thing to overcome that I just haven't been doing it in the past month. (I tried the mixing 10% into my ground beef, but still, it gives me the shivers). I was delighted to find BEEF Braunschweiger! I had some on a seed cracker today and it was great!Pesto on top! I thawed slightly, and cut into 8 and froze 7.Excellent!

I have no idea how this has so many positive reviews. It looked, smelled and tasted like super strong wet cat food. I had to throw it in the garbage.

I admit it. My only experience with eating liver (beef and chicken) were with non-grassfed meat. Blech phooey. But I need the liver and other organs in my diet so I ordered the braunschweiger since it's a bit more subtle than the liverwurst. I can't believe how delicious it is!! The plan was to eat 2 ounces a day, but . . . yeah, it's not going to last that long. LOL. I'll tree the liverwurst next!

A long lost treat- Retrieved!
My mom used to have this in the fridge and I remember hating it, then learning to love its unique flavor once I hit my teens. (Probably needed the boost of all that iron and B12).
I truly had forgotten all about it for at least twenty years. I saw it here, was reminded and called to add it to the order I had just placed. Wow! Yumm! My body actually craves it. Keto happy. Husband says yuk. Maybe we women really need it. Will order more right away. Good source. Worth the price.

This is my first time trying liver in anything and this braunschweiger was a perfect way to incorporate it. The spices are very mild and nicely balanced. It is firm enough for slicing, but I just take a big spoon and scoop it out. Thank you for fresh great product, will buy again for sure!

I enjoy it, it's great, but it may not be for everyone.
I really enjoy the quality of this Braunschweiger. I also like the taste of it, however, it does have a noticeable "organ meat" odor and taste to it-which I like(after-all, I want it to have organ meats in it,otherwise I'd be buying a plain beef sausage). It doesn't bother me at all-in fact I wouldn't mind if it was even stronger. I've tried this and the Beef Liverwurst, to me they taste very similar, which is a good thing for me, and again, personally I wouldn't mind if it had an even higher organ meat content. To me, it's great.
I've shared it with some guests before and had mixed reactions, some devoured it, some had a hard time with it. So just a heads up, I like it, but there are some people who may not find it their cup of tea.

Love, love, love this! I probably eat this Beef Braunschweiger at least once a day, or at least every other day. I mix it with a little bit of avocado mayo and use it as a spread or dip for my veggies - or I simply eat it by alone mixed with mayo. Yum!

When I was a kid, we called this "gooseliver". I don't really trust the national brands that make this - too many ingredients. But this taste fresh and is seasoned just right.

I ate this since I was little and my grandma would treat me to a sandwich with Braunschweiger. I've wanted to eat it again, but I limit my pork intake and didn't like all the chemicals in the store stuff. I found this and just tried it today - yummy! And so healthy, I will definitely be buying again. I didn't find any of the spices too strong and the texture was just right to spread on my sprouted grain bread.

Worth it kids love it too!
Sure it's more expensive then what you might find in the deli aisle. But look at this ingredient list vs that one. This is excellent. My two young girls 9 and 12 love it as well. They actually reached for it twice in the past day.
I still haven't told them it has liver in it. Wish I had ordered more.

This brauschweiger is delicious, and flavor-wise it's everything I was hoping it would be! No it does not have the traditional creamy texture, but that's not too important to me, I'm really about the flavor, and it's still relatively soft. I love it, and the high quality ingredients are worth it. Definitely will be a regular purchase.

I just got my box of (expensive) goodness today. Immediately thawed a slice of the Braunschweiger. As others have pointed out, it was a bit wet. I had read that, so I thawed it on a paper towel. Really, really wonderful. Good taste, livery, but not overly so. Great seasoning. I roll my eyes over the reviews complaining that it tastes like liver. Seriously folks, it has liver in it! It will taste like it. I tend to get anemic, so a good regular dose of liver is important, and I can't always find a clean source at the store. SO happy to be able to slice off a chunk anytime I want. Happiness!

Mild flavor. Easy to adjust to eating this organ meat. I eat it in the morning with miso or kimchi when I am running late. Family enjoys it despite squeamishness re organ meat concept

This is very tasty. I cut them into 1/2" slices and stick them in frying pan or on grill. Just love them with eggs...perfect combo....the liverwurst is great too. Have had about 20 of both so far.

this would be SO much better if it were not frozen.
I wish I lived within driving distance and could buy this fresh because I have no doubt that it is extremely healthy and would be delicious. But because it came frozen, it thawed out to a strange soggy texture that we just weren't expecting and found really off-putting. I am planning to buy some US Wellness organ meats and try to make my own.

Good Flavor - Texture Could Be Better
The flavor of this braunschweiger is wonderful! The texture, however, is a bit rough. It is almost impossible to spread and we frequently find little hard rubbery pieces of fat mixed in. We will continue to buy it because we love the taste and health benefits, but we really wish they could smooth out the texture!

First one was amazing, remaining oozed watery pink liquid and were very tough
We were so thrilled to have found a delicious liver product my daughter would eat and actually enjoy. She loves it on thinly sliced sourdough with pastured butter and dijon mustard and fresh parsley or basil. She ate the first one in four days.
Unfortunately the remaining two were so tough and when thawed ,oozed a lot of pink liquid. She will no longer eat it so I am giving it to my neighbor's dog.

Awesome way to get your organ meats!
I just purchased the braunschweiger and I'm in love! Never grew up eating it as a kid and haven't had it as an adult before. Love it straight out of the package with a little bit of horseradish mustard or plain! No purge came out of the package and the texture was wonderful. Will be buying this as a staple from now on! Maybe if I had a time machine and could grow up eating this . . . alas I do not . . .
I grew up being fed “traditional” Liverwurst sandwiches by my German grandmother so when I saw this offering by US Wellness Meats I was excited to try it. I followed the suggestion of thawing and portioning, as well as thawing in the fridge to reduce purging. I even browsed their Offal Pinterest page for suggestions. I love many of US Wellness Meats sausages and ground meat products but unfortunately this Braunschweiger is far too “organy” for me; I was unable to overcome the strong, unfamiliar scent and found this product unenjoyable.

The braunschweiger I received did not have enough spices and when it thawed out it bled blood which turned me off as I can't stand blood coming from the food I eat.

Wow, I love this! I wanted to get more organ meat into my diet, but plain liver, well, let's just say that I have not yet discovered a way to cook plain liver to my liking. If I use a ratio of 10 parts bacon to one part liver, eh, "maybe". So while I was hoping this liver sausage would be at least acceptable, I bought it more for the health benefits, rather than any expectations about the taste. My first bite just blew me away! I could happily eat this daily. I've eaten it twice today - sample at breakfast, real portion for lunch. I may even have it for dinner. Not that I would do this every day, but, wow. I am so very happy with this product, and ofc I will be ordering more (much more) with my next order. One thing to note: the texture is very different from the liver sausage I ate as a child. I remember that commercial liver sausage as being a very fine, creamy grind. This is coarser, almost a bit stringy, but very firmly compressed. I ended up with somewhat ragged slices. I don't even know which texture I might prefer (I refuse to eat CAFO sourced commercial liver sausage, so I only have my childhood memories to go by), but it doesn't matter to me. Once I got over my surprise, I enjoyed the texture as well as the flavor.

Turns out organ meats aren't something you have to choke down just because they're good for you. This Braunschweiger has incredible flavor- even the kids love it plain with a little mustard to dip it in or added to scrambled eggs. Too easy. Same goes for the liverwurst and head cheese- all very good.

The smell and taste take be back to being a kid. This is a delicious product, can't wait to eat more. One of my kids loved it, other kid wasn't a fan, but maybe over time. Very mild liver taste.

I would have reviewed this after the first bite but I couldn't wait for more! I loved Braunshweiger as a child and haven't had any in years. I rarely eat anything that is so good that I have to tell someone, but this is THAT GOOD!. Thank you for making a great product! Plain, with cheese, mustard...and if you have some see-thru Danish Rye,that'll do, too. I love it as much as my dog does. I bring it to work and the guys go thru it like it's vanilla ice cream.

I used to eat Braunschweiger as a kid - mom would make sandwiches with it. Of course, once I figured out what was in it, I stopped eating it. Now I am trying to eat a healthier and varied diet. Checked out the "store" braunschweiger, but it is all filled with nitrates. A friend recommended US Wellness Meats. Ordered the braunschweiger and liverwurst. Both are excellent! Tastes just like I remember. I will partly-thaw the rolls, then slice them, wrap in parchment paper, and refreeze two slices to a small bag. I defrost the small portions as needed. I will eat it plain. Have not had any problems with texture or strong odor. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone! The liverwurst has a slightly stronger taste, but that is to be expected with the kidneys in the mix.

I was initially excited to find this, since I grew up eating braunschweiger and wanted a snack meat to consume on my Whole30. The flavor is excellent, texture could better as I also prefer a more traditional paste.
However, within the very first bite, I chomped on a large piece of gristle; GROSS.. a surefire way to kill my appetite from wanting to eat anymore. And each piece I slice off, continue to find more. The only way I can continue eating it is to cut a slice into tiny pieces and dissect each piece looking for additional gristle.
So over all I am a bit disappointed in this product due to the gristle issue, and probably won't be ordering this again. Please fix this!

Be aware it has strong smell
Purchased 2 for myself and 1 for my son in separate order (for his Birthday). Head cheese and Liverwurst in order was good-like it, BBQ rib fab. Braunschweiger has very strong organ/liver meat smell, I can't get over it. Neither myself or my son can finish it. I ordered because of glowing reviews here and non mentioned strong smell. I thought there should be one review that mention this so some people are not surprised.
USWM- We are truly very sorry you had a bad experience with our product. We realize this product is not for everyone. This product can have a strong smell or taste because it does contain Beef Liver. This is not going to be as bland as the products you would buy in the grocery store.

Beef Liver that Tastes Amazing
I was not able to find any available great-tasting Braunschweiger out there that does not have some form of sugar and preservatives, let alone from an unknown, grain stuffed source.
US Wellness Meats makes liver taste good without me spending the time adding tons of bacon/fat and onions and butter. I get my daily needed dose of Vitamin A, and my toddlers love it too. I have it with an egg, or on top of ground beef (this is if I don't eat a cut straight from the package).
I cannot recommend this enough. I have yet to be able to recreate the Braunschweiger. I think I might stop trying.

This is the easiest way to eat liver. I love it on salads or mixed in with some cooked vegetables. Very tasty. Not sure if I will go back to the old liver and onions when this taste way better and is so easy. Just chop it up and eat it.

A nice treat for the kids
My kids don't know that braunschweiger is liver but they really like this product. The texture is a bit hard for them to chew, it isn't smooth like I remember the stuff I ate as a kid (the not great stuff still found in grocery stores today) but they manage it fine if I put some ketchup on it. I like it as a change for the kids and slice it all up, freeze it and pull out a few slices at a time.

I am a braunshweiger lover from way back. I've never tasted anything as good as this one. At first, I hesitated at the price, but after the first bite I was hooked! Living in a small rural area in eastern Oregon I depend on US Wellness to supply all the grassfed meats and cheese I cannot get here. I haven't been disappointed yet.

This is my way of eating liver. I love this stuff. Much better and healthier than store-bought. To avoid any soggy defrosting: I defrost partially on counter, enough to take the wrapper off. Then I wrap in several layers of unbleached paper towel and put in a ziploc bag, then refrigerate until completely thawed. Every time I use it I replace the paper towel until it no longer sweats. This works for me and it cuts nicely and texture is fine.

Less Than Expected in All Ways
Texture is not what you typically think of when you think of liverwurst or braunschweiger. I grew up eating liverwurst with my German grandmother. I found a great natural, nitrate free liverwurst at Whole Foods that is delicious, but I wanted to take it a step further: making sure it is organically produced and grassfed. Unfortunately, I was a very disappointed by this product. The texture is completely wrong (kinda like tiny strips/pieces molded together rather than a smooth paste). It also leaked a lot when I defrosted it to eat it, which made it taste kind of like soggy meat. I believe this is probably a processing issue rather than a signature of the grassfed beef.
Also the package in the photo makes it look like you're getting a huge log of it, but when I got it, it was barely bigger than the one I get at WF for half the price. I should have looked at the ounces on my WF variety to compare. So, my fault in a way, but also an advertising issue (there should be a photo of the actual size piece you get). I realize I am paying more for grassfed nutrients, which I am fine with, but I didn't realize it would be 50% more and for a product that just doesn't taste like it should. It's actually unpleasant for me to eat. Unfortunately, I got four of them, so I've got to suffer a bit more since they were spendy and there is no way I'm not eating them now that I've got them! I will try heating them like the above reviewer enjoys, but that is not how it is normally eaten.
Also, in the first piece I ate, I found a bone/hard cartilage fragment.
I think if they had better machinery for grinding the meat, this could be a superb product, and I wouldn't mind the price AS much.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE US Wellness Meats' ideology, and I will continue to purchase other items from them, but unless they upgrade to a better grinding process, I will not purchase this product again, which is a shame because I was so excited to try it for so long, being a life-long lover of liverwurst & braunschweiger. 2 out of 5 stars for it being grassfed and organic, but negative stars for everything else.

This is definitely not your supermarket liverwurst. Nice firm texture with a lot of flavor. Easy to cut and serve with a bit of mustard-yummy!

We have tried a lot of braunschweiger
This is the best. Texture is slightly harder than most, makes it easy to slice, harder to scoop or spread. Very nice taste, not too strong, haven't had an "off" batch from US Wellness yet.
We sometimes put a slice in the middle of a hamburger patty then grill it up. Amazing.

I hate beef liver because of the strong taste, but I LOVE liverwurst. This is very tasty but it has a little too much pepper taste to it. I did like it enough to buy it again.
