I am on the carnivore diet, thus I know what good meat tastes like and have gotten some here in the past. I purchased 25Ibs and these all had slimy white film and pieces of cartilage, meat tasted horrible!! I was forced to dispose of all of it!! Extremely disappointed as they still

Thankful for this delicious meat
I’m so thankful I can get this Delicious meat ! The only complaint I have is that I feel that the seal on the packaging is not very tight. It leaks blood , I’ve started putting it in a baggie with a paper towel but would love it if I did t have to. -K. S.

Love this ground beef! Makes my meatballs and meatloaf spectacular. Sometimes I wish it was a little coarser grind...sometimes it's a little too "pate" style...but the taste and quality cannot be beat. Really good grass-fed beef
This is really good ground beef, but I actually prefer leaner ground beef. I grew up on my Dad's ranch and I am use to lean ground beef. I don't like that extra fat is put in, but the taste of this ground beef is really good. What is important to me is that it is grass fed and that it does not have all the extra garbage in it that comercial beef does. Thank you for having it for us to purchase. -Claudia N.

The quality of the meat is good, however it seems there is very poor quality control in the packaging department. I have been repeatedly receiving ground beef packages that have been cut into the package breaking the seal, allowing freezer burn. I like to order products from US Wellness meat because of the ready-to-put-in-the freezer packaging, but I will need to find another company for ground beef. There are always some packages where the seal is broken every time I order ground beef. This has not improved over time. This applies to the patties too. -Darlene K.

I've been purchasing from US Wellness for a while and enjoy the products they offer. We love the flavor of their ground beef but recently have been discovering bone fragments in the beef more often than we'd like, especially considering that we feed our 15 month old daughter the same beef. It's never enjoyable when you crunch down on a hard piece of bone.
From USWM: We apologize sincerely for this very uncustomary report of our Lean Ground beef. We are extremely mindful of our customer reviews, offering the opportunity to alter inventory in the event of quality control concerns such as gristle/bone fragments. Again, this is not a common complaint given the high quality of our products. Our crew scrutinizes all of the grinding meat for bones and tendons before it goes in the grinder which is time consuming, but necessary. We have updated our bone guard screen which will is the last step in minimizing bone and gristle. We use quite a few moving pieces and parts in our cutting room. Occasionally, a quarter size of our gristle may be ground or cut into thousands upon thousands of pounds of product. We will readily admit that we are not perfect and we have had bits and pieces in our ground beef a few times over the years. We recently added an outside supervisor that observes and assists in the packing plant to minimize gristle/bone that end up where they should not be. We also implemented a new state of the art grinding machine that puts out an even higher grade product. Wanted to feed my family a healthier option than the usual market ground beef. They have asked me not to serve this anymore. I made us grilled burgers and boy were they disappointing. No taste and you had to chew for hours to get them down. Ya know that mouth feel when you're re making a spit ball, well that's this ground beef. And ya don't get the satisfaction of spitting it at anyone.

85% Lean of actual beef...
I've only ordered once before and the Fillets are still exquisite, but the 85% ground still leaves a lot to the imagination. Been reading the reviews for several months and figured the bad stuff was thru the chain by now; WRONG. Still full of gristle; not good for anything that doesn't hide under a bun

Have been ordering for years
The meat is usually good and fresh, however on many occasions, especially the last couple of years, the packages arrive with small holes in the plastic, especially in the corners. Seems they need to use a thicker packaging. I finally stopped ordering because it was so frequent. I'm going to try one more time because I like that the meat is delivered to our door and I can't always get out to the store to get grass fed, and we eat it a lot with our family of 6.

I ordered the 85% and 75% beef, the meat looked bleached, more white instead of red. It ate a patty made with the ground meat, it was really bland. So it was either frozen for a while or might be old. Because this kind of mean is usually tastier and redder than what I received. Might be good for Chilli, but for patties, not so much, at least with the versions I received.

I have had hamburgers and ground beef from different suppliers (restaurants, grocery, online) and USWellness ground beef is, without question, the best beef I have ever had. Practically melts in my mouth with almost zero gristle. Amazing quality and taste.

I've been buying for more than 5 years. But not sure I can continue to buy this particular product anymore because of all the gristle in it. Every other bite seems to have some. After spending the time cooking it's disappointing to have the pleasure of eating it marred by biting into something hard.

Better flavor than anything I've found locally. We made patties out of them (they were a little crumbly so we put them in the freezer for about 45 mins before putting them on the grill so they'd hold their shape). Will definitely buy again.

I just started ordering from USWM a few months ago. After I placed my first order I read the reviews, both good and bad, about the ground beef and crossed my fingers. I was relieved to discover that all of the ground beef I ordered then and on a subsequent order was tender and flavorful, but my luck ran out with the last order. I didn't really need ground beef when I placed the last order so I only ordered two pounds, but it was awful, coarse to the point that I couldn't chew through the gristle or bone. It was that hard. It also came packaged differently than my other orders, in a rectangle rather than a square, not that that matters to me, but it might mean something to you. Now, I need more ground beef, but I'm afraid to order it from USWM because it looks like this is an ongoing problem that should have been resolved.

I bought 8 packages in May of last year and unfortunately it just was not edible. We tried a few packages and gave up and had to throw the rest away. Every single bite had gristle and bone. We could not eat it. It is unfortunate because I do like all the other cuts of meat i have purchased but I started to look elsewhere since we eat a lot of hamburger.
USWM- We are truly very sorry that you had a bad experience with our product last year. We have been cutting/grinding our own meat in our new facility since the second week in December 2015. Since then the issue has been resolved and we are putting out an excellent product. We would like to invite you to give it another shot. Per the previous reviews about the quality of the way this was now ground, I was worried about buying my usual large order of 85% ground beef. I called and was informed that they are set up to process their own meat and they now grind this themselves on site. I love the fine grind of this beef, it is so easy to brown in the skillet and it crumbles so easy now without having to use a spatula to chop and chop to get those nice crumbles of brown ground beef. This is the best ground beef due to quality and the fine grind of the beef.

I've been buying this for years, but for the last six months, I've been very disappointed with the quality. One batch was very coarse, the next was so fine it was like meat paste; One batch had punctures in the plastic and spots of freezer burn, and the latest batch has grayish areas on the surface. All my other products from the company have been wonderful, and the customer service in dealing this has been wonderful, but I'm ready for some good ground beef!
USWM- We are truly very sorry for the issues with our ground beef in the past. We have been cutting/grinding out own burger since the second week in December 2015. We love the product we are producing now and have not heard any complaints on the new ground beef. We recommend giving that a second chance.

I ordered eight packages of the 85 per cent ground beef this past October and my husband and I were very disappointed. It was chunky and full of gristle. Unfortunately, we had the same problem with our July order. I thought the problem had been resolved?
We appreciate your loyal support and are very sorry for the disappointing ground beef!
We are happy to issues refunds for the ground beef, for any reason.
We use the ground beef ourselves and agree there have been quality issues intermittently since July. In July, we had a batch of rectangle packages with excessive gristle. August batches were fine without any issues. Within the last two weeks, we have received reports regarding the rectangle packages that the grind is coarser than usual. Not as bad as July, but still coarser and with more gristle than usual. This ongoing issue with quality consistency has been disheartening to say the least.
This is actually the first report of problems with the square packaging being overly fatty we have received (besides the occasional transit damage).
On a good note, within the next six months, we should be processing and shipping from our own facility. We look forward to future batches being back to the usual quality we’ve come to expect. I'm so sorry to say that the ground beef I ordered on my last order (Oct. 10th) has been very far below the quality that I have come to expect from US Wellness. I love your products! But the beef that we received tastes worse and has a very tough, stringy and grisly texture. I hate to say that no one in my family would even eat it, and previously we loved it. Even mixed with other types of meat it tasted pretty bad.
Unfortunately I ordered many packages to have on hand, not sure what to do with it now.
I love your other products and have always had great experiences before this one.

This pertains to order no 337064 placed 7/16/15. This ground beef is absolutely horrible. I have used 3/8 pkgs and they have all been the same. Nothing but gristle and very coarse, like sausage.
Both of the 6-oz patties had one or two gristle pieces and were also a bit too coarse, but they were nothing like the pound pkgs. I've used one pkg of the liverwurst so far and it was okay. There are five remaining pkgs of this ground beef and you are welcome to have them back. I do not want to waste anymore time on it.
Please do not give more "store credit." I would appreciate a refund back to my card. This is not the first time I have written w/ complaints about excessive gristle.

We have already followed up with our processors and look forward to future batches remaining at the usual quality we’ve come to expect. We process in small batches and sell through our inventory very quickly. New batches arrived on August 10th and we have yet to receive similar quality complaints.

You can definitely tell the difference between store-bought grassfed beef and ground beef bought form US Wellness.
this meet is tasty! And you can tell it is from healthy cows. As another reviewer noted stringiness and gristle in a previous purchase this year, I also had that issue with one shipment, and I was disappointed. However, I've had so many other good experiences with this meat that it has not detoured me from buying again.

I love this ground beef. It is, by far, the best tasting.
I have compared it with Kroger, Publix, and Whole Foods organic grass fed beef, and this one if far superior and at a better price.

Only a first class company would honestly acknowledge a problem, however small, and then make it right. A rarity in this day and age. Kudos to USW Meats. 5 star customer service.

Have bought a couple ground beef products now and they seem "stringy or chewy". Much prefer Whole Foods grass fed ground beef, but love all the other products I have ordered here. My wife really notices the "stringyness or toughness" of the ground beef, however.
