Product reviews for Lamb Tallow - 2 lbs.

Not what I was expecting
This is my very first time ever having an animal fat to utilize in cooking. This lamb tallow came on time and frozen with my other items. When it thawed a bit in my fridge, I scooped some out to assess it. It was pure white, kind of flaky, and had somewhat of a wierd scent. To be honest, the smell of the lamb tallow was not appetizing. I don't know if that scent is the norm, but it is unfortunate that I bought 2 pails with the idea that tallow is a healthy alternative for cooking and frying foods. I haven't opened the beef tallow yet to check it, but I know that I wasted my money on the lamb tallow because the smell is just not appetizing.

Other Tallow Uses
My refrigerator is stocked with many containers of the pure white mutton tallow because US Wellness Meats sells the BEST tallow on the market.  Why? Because I would be afraid pure mutton tallow would not be available
I am a match shooter with handguns and rifles and make my own lube for lead bullets.  The major ingredient in my lube is your pure mutton tallow ONLY.  There are several other vendors of tallow but it is not your pure tallow with a long hydrocarbon chain mainly of triglycerides (fat), whose major constituents are derived from stearic and oleic acids ... that makes for excellent lube

A historical use reference for tallow was ... Early in the development of steam-driven piston engines, the hot vapors and liquids washed away most lubricants very quickly. It was soon found that tallow was quite resistant to this washing. Tallow and compounds including tallow were widely used to lubricate locomotive and steamship engines at least until the 1950s.

Thanks for your excellent tallow!
