Meet Dominique Fasano, a self-proclaimed lover of food, traveling, and finding the BEST foods while traveling.  Getting lost in the kitchen creating healthy, clean, Paleo recipes is one of her favorite ways to pass the time.  And the good news is we get to benefit from her passion.  The four creations she shared have the distincitve feeling of Autumn.  We hope you enjoy her recipes!

Q: Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Dominique Fasano and I am the blogger, recipe developer and photographer for the blog, Perchance To Cook. I love creating healthy recipes, traveling, trying different foods, and finding hidden restaurant gems. I recently got married in Ireland after living and working there for almost a year! I have since moved to NJ with my husband, who is the reason that I started my blog and started learning about eating clean and Paleo. He has an auto-immune disease and I love coming up with healthy recipes that not only help with his health, but are delicious. I love sharing what works for us in my blog!

Q: How did you get involved in cooking?

Cooking has been a big part of my family for as long as I can remember. My mom is from France and so I grew up having European traditions and tastes in the home. She thought it was important for my siblings and I to know how to cook and how to recognize good quality food. My mother would always tell us that one becomes smarter through trying new foods; this lead me to being open minded regarding trying new things and creating different recipes.

Q: Describe your cooking style?

Over the last three years, I have focused on clean, gluten-free, Paleo cooking. I have very much enjoyed choosing classic dishes and recipes and making cleaner and/or Paleo versions of them.

Q: How did you learn about grass-fed meats?

I learned about grass-fed meats by doing research on healthy and natural foods. I think now more than ever it is important to know exactly what you are putting into your body and that includes going to the source of what went into an animal’s body as well.

Q: What is your favorite recipe featuring grass-fed meat?

My favorite recipe has to be my Paleo Pumpkin Meat Sauce Ragu. I could eat that every day.

Q: You’re stranded on a desert island; luckily you’re stranded with your top 5 ingredients and must-have kitchen tool.  What are they?

1) Chocolate- to satisfy my sweet tooth 2) Bananas- because I can eat one every day! 3) Almonds- for healthy fats and because they are so filling 4) Eggs- because you can do so much with them! 5) Ground turkey it is a great lean protein.

My must have kitchen tool would be a frying pan.

Q: What is one of the best cooking secret/tip/piece of advice you've learned?

I have two: 1) If you put lemon on an avocado, it keeps it from turning brown. And 2) Always use half the amount of sugar that any recipe asks for.

Q: Favorite quote/song for culinary inspiration?

I have to go back to my mother’s quote, “one becomes smarter through trying new foods.”
